New year, new home? Or maybe just a refresh?

Here are 7 simple things you can do around your house to help it feel like a “new home” again:

  1. Rearrange Your Furniture
Look for another arrangement in a room that you spend a majority of your time in. Maybe that’s your living room. You won’t even need to spend a dime on this idea!
  2. Paint Something That You’re Not Too Fond Of
Maybe that’s a furniture piece, a wall, a decoration- but it will change up the look of the piece and your space!
  3. Switch Out a Light Fixture
We love looking for light fixtures to freshen up a space. Our favorite go-to stores are BBC Lighting downtown Milwaukee, All Modern, West Elm, and Wayfair.
  4. The Great Purge
Maybe watch a few episodes of Marie Kondo on Netflix first for a little bit of inspiration. But really, even if you just focus on one space in your home- a room, a shelf, a box… look through it and determine what to keep and what to toss, sell, or donate.
  5. Change Out Your Window Treatments
Amazon and Ikea have many affordable options when it comes to window treatments. Maybe pick out a new colored curtain, an updated curtain rod, or some new blinds.
  6. Paint
Did you know that you should repaint your kitchen at least every 5 years, if not sooner? Fresh paint can go a long way and help to refresh a room and make it feel “new” again.
  7.  Invest in a New Rug
Change up a rug in a room. Maybe go with something softer or with more pile for a cozy feel during those long winter months.
